Five Tips for Parents to reduce Absenteeism.
As a parent myself I want my children to be successful, to graduate from high school prepared for college or the workforce. I have learned that children need to be in school to ensure they receive the supports they need to learn and thrive. But there's a whole range of issues- including poverty, health challenges, community violence and difficult family circumstances- that make it difficult for them to take advantage of the opportunity to learn at school.
We have gathered top 10 ideas to help get students to school every day. We can share this ideas with other families and educators.
1. Learn what chronic absence is and how it impact students success.
2. Help your children understand why going to school every day matters.
3. Set attendance goals.
4. Set daily routines at home.
5. Develop back-up plan for getting your child to school using My Family Help Bank.
I found this great information in my personal PTA magazine, as you may know I love to be inform with new ideas in how to help and enriched my children lives. Get more information and tools for parents at PTAOurChildren.org/attendance, where you will also learn about the associate director for programs at Attendance Works Cecelia Leong.
